Liberals fight for Corrie life battle

T 1-1 RI 1 LIBERALS have led the sponNorship of an Early Day Motion calling on the Government to give adequate time to the Currie Abortion (Amendment) Bill. They are Cyril Smith, Alan Beith, and David Alton — who have been joined in sponsorship of the motion by Jill Knight, Sir Nigel Fisher and Tony Marlow.
Over thirty MPs have already joined them and the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children is urging all Parliamentary supporters to sign.
Mr John Corrie said: "The morale of M Ps who have backed us is extraordinarily high. Added to that, a considerable number of MI's have become angered by the tactics used by those opposing my Bill to try to talk it out."
"People ask 'What happens now?' The answer is: 'We come Out fighting, of course.' Pro-life MPs are even more determined to ensure that a meaningful Bill reaches the statute book. If we fail through lack of time on this occasion many MPs including myself. are determined to put their names down for the Private Members' Ballot in the autumn with the intention of sponsoring another Bill."
• Mr Robert Taylor, Conservative MP for Croydon West. will not be donating the time alloted to his Child Maintenance Bill to the Corrie Bill in Parliament today.
