Dr. Ramsey attacks anti-semitism

BY A STAFF REPORTER
CARDINAL HEENAN heard the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Michael Ramsey, condemn Soviet anti-semitism at a meeting to mark the 30th anniversary of the Council of Christians and Jews in London. The Archbishop, who with Cardinal Heenan ris a joint president of the Council, said: "We find any discrimination on grounds of religion and race to be abhorrent and we continue to witness against it." But "he welcomed wholeheartedly the news that a considerable number of jews are month by month allowed •to emigrate from Russia to the Holy Land." The council was founded to foster understanding and goodwill between Christians and Jews and to combat discrimination. Mr. Mark Baring and Mr. Edmund de Rothschild, the council's honorarytreasurers, attribute a fall in donations to the fact that anti-sernitiern is not so readily visible today.
