VOTE NO Do YOU want

WAR with Iraq?
Tony Blair has taken perhaps the most critical decision on behalf of the UK since the second world war — without consulting the British people. As millions of people around the world demonstrate against war this is your chance to 'vote' and show Tony Blair that you are desperately worried about the consequences of his action.
111110. 111110. 1111110. MOW 11111P 111101. 111110. 1111110 11110. 111.1.
1111 hile around 40 million people in Africa face the worst famine in living memory, George Bush and Tony Blair prepare to spend billions of pounds on' war. It is deeply alarming that Ibny Blair has committed around 40,000 troops and a third of our airforce.
Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor has said the need' to avoid war is the "cornerstone of Christian teaching", and has urged the international community to pursue alternatives to military confrontation. This is an appeal to ask Catholic Herald readers to help stop this war.
Those of us opposed to war may not have vast corporate funds at our disposal but with enough donations we can fund adverts and leaflets to give every person in the country the chance to 'vote' against war — and increase the pressure on Tony Blair. OUR WORLD OUR SAY will deliver these messages to show Tony Blair he cannot just ignore the opposition of the British people. War may now be just weeks away.
In identifying so closely with America he has made a decision that is already making Britain one of the most hated nations on the planet. It is a decision that we may all pay for dearly.
Your action now is essential to ensure that the voices of democracy and reason are not drowned out in this unseemly drive towards war. Reply today to put pressure on the Government to pull back from its support of the US motivated war Just why is the Prime Minister so determined to follow the US?
Tin absolutely opposed to a war. I feel very strongly that it is wrong. There is no justification for sending British troops to Iraq.'
Major-General Patrick Cordingley, Commander of the British 7th Armoured Brigade during the Gulf War.
When all around the world leaders are urging caution. from Nelson Mandela to ex US President Jimmy Carter to Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor 'Ibny Blair remains virtually the only major world leader to give almost unequivocal backing to George Bush.
He's been asked time and time again for proof that the Iraqi regime poses a grave threat to the UK. The "proof' in the form of the "dossier on Iraqi weapons of mass destruction" and Colin Powell's 'evidence' to the UN provide very little in the way of hard facts. The only thing they do did prove is that there is no factual basis at all for the claims that Iraq poses a serious military threat to Britain or the US.
Yet the consequences of the US strategy could unleash a global wave of terror attacks that will last for decades.
The threat from Iraq has been exaggerated beyond reason
The gulf war and destruction of weapons at the hands of UN Weapons Inspectors in the 1990s has left the Iraqi military machine so degraded, it simply does not have the means to attack America or Britain or indeed any western state.
Even if Saddam Hussein had the capability to invade his neighbours or to send missiles into Europe, to do so would result in such a massive military reaction that it would be an act of suicide. Saddam Hussein knows this. And given that his main concern is his own political survival, it is nonsense to claim that the Iraqi regime poses a threat to its neighbours, let alone Britain.
This is a crucial moment in history. Do we want. a future with more human misery. more discord, more war, more terrorism?
