Ruben Zamora, a member of the El Salvador Justice and Peace Corn mission, recently gave a talk on "Attitudes to the Poor and the Third World" at the Diocesan Catechetical Centre in Tooting Bee, London, SW. Bishop Henderson. Auxiliary of Southwark, was present at the meeting.

Fr Austin Smith. CP. addressed the AGM of the Catholic Social Services in Liverpool at the weekend. He stressed that the deepest form of poverty affecting the inner city areas of Liverpool was not material poverty hut powerlessness. He called for the full involvement of all inner city dwellers in the changes implemented to combat urban decay.
Fr Tim Firth will speak at the next St Edmund's Family Day on Novem ber 5, at St Joseph's Convent, Hertingfordbury, Hertfordshire, on the subject of "Lay Involvement". This will be the second in a series of eight family days which provide an opportunity for parents and adults from all over Hertfordshire to meet and study together. Young children will be cared for by students front Allen Hall and Poles Convent.

The former Coloma College of Education, South London, which closed in July, is to reopen as a mixed comprehensive school in September next year. Fr Edward McDonagh, an American Rdemptorist priest, will lead the opening service at the Worth Abbey Day of Renewal tomorrow, Fr MdDonagh comes from Boston, where hc regularly holds healing and restoration services attended by as many as 4,000 people. He is touring England at present at the invitation of the National Service Committee for Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
A weekend on "Christian Leadership" will be held for Scouters and Guiders at Ashburnham Place, Battle, Sussex, from November 17 to 19. It is being organised by Lee Ab bey, a Church of England deentre for evangelism and lay training which is open to all denominations.
