OBITUARY

Fr. Joseph William Ross, S.J.
Fr. Joseph William Ross died at St. Beuno's College, St. Asaph, on December 3. aged 84.
Born in Leicester in 1873 and educated at Stonyhurst, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1915, when he was 42. and was ordained priest in 1422. For the next 20 years lie was engaged in parish work at Accrington, Glasgow, Wimbledon, Richmond (Yorkshire), and Preston. In 1942 he went to Oxburah Hall to begin a series of chaplaincies which lasted until 1954, when he suffered a very severe heart attack, which made further work impossible, Since 1955 he had been living in retirement at St. Beuno's College.
Fr. Albert Corcoran, O.P.
Fr. Albert Corcoran, who died on December 7, aged 77, was a member of St. Sebastian's Priory, Pendleton. Salford, and had been a Dominican for 54 years.
Born in Manchester, he was educated at Stonyhurst and Ushaw, and in 1903 he entered the Dominican
novitiate at Woodchester. In 1904 he went to Hawkesyard Priory for his priestly studies and was ordained in 1910, after which he was appointed to St. Dominic's Priory, Newcastleon-Tyne.
In 1915, he was assigned to the Dominican mission in Grenada, B.W.I., but his health failed and he was forced to return in the following year to Newcastle. In 1924, he was assigned to Pendleton ; then in 1929 he went to Stroud, and in 1930 to London, but his health failed again and he returned to Pendleton in 1934. Until 1940 he was very ill. but he gradually recovered, and between 1950 and 1953 he was subprior.
Fr. Kevin Jones
Fr. Resin Norbert Jones, parish priest of St. George's, Norwich, since 1947, died in Norwich on Monday. He was 43.
Barn in Weston Underwood, Bucks, Fr. Jones was educated at Cotton College and Oscott and was ordained in 1938. He served at Woodbridge, Wroxham Hall, and Kettering. He was priest in charge of Bletchley and of Cromer before becoming parish priest of St. George's, Norwich, 10 years ago.
Mr. E. R. McGann
Mr. Edmund Rogerson McGann, B.Com., (Manchester University), Headmaster of St. Bernard's School, Stepney, East London, from its foundation in ,1928 to July 1950, died last week and was buried at Rhoson-Sea. Colwyn Bay. Arrangements are being made for a Requiem Mass to be celebrated shortly at SS. Mary and Michael's Church, Commercial Road, East London

Prayers were caked on Sunday for Fr. Anthony MacDonald, of Copenhagen Street, North London, who entered hospital seriously ill and has received the last Sacraments. He has been 12 years at the Copenhagen Street Church.
