A FALL IN vocations has forced Jesuits to leave the historic church of St Mary of the Quay, Bristol.
In an address given at all Masses last weekend, Provin cial Fr James Crampsey said: "After so many years presence of the Society of Jesus in the heart of the city of Bristol, it is with deep regret that this withdrawal is now necessary. We are confident however that St Mary of the Quay will continue to provide its great service both to the parish and to the centre of Bristol".
The decision to withdraw means that "we can no longer take for granted that the works we have been committed to will continue"
