From Dr P E Hodgson Sir, May I remind Dr Makin that I did refer to Philoponus as a precursor of Buridan in my article on I January. I am also aware that the story of the development .d of the concept of impetus is a long and complicated one. It ,,1 is just not possible to mention everything in a short article. 32 His concluding remarks are as inappropriate as they are ti regrettable.
Yours faithfully, P.E.HODGSON, °1 Corpus Christi, Oxford jb
