HOMAGE TO ST. JOAN

CARD1NAL GRIFFIN is going to Rouen to attend the celebrations on June 24 and 25 of the fifth centenary of the Rehabilitation of St. Joan of Arc.
To mark the anniversary the Holy See has given permission for the celebration of the Mass of St. Joan of Arc throughout England and Wales on her feast day, May 30. In Westminster Cathedral the Mass will be at 6 p.m.
A distinguished delegation is going to Rouen from this country under the patronage of the Cardinal and of Sir Gladwyn Jebb. British Ambassador in Paris, and will have a place in the great civic procession on June 24 in the presence of the President of France.
The delegation will be headed by the Union Jack, followed by a banner of St. Joan inscribed: " Homage to St. Joan from England."
VACANCIES
There are still some vacancies in the delegation and applications to join it may he made to the Quincentenary Celebrations Committee, 55, Berners Street, London, W.I. The hon. secretary is Miss Florence Barry, who is also hon. secretary of St. Joan's Alliance.
St. Joan. then 19 years old, was burnt at the stake in the year 1431. Twenty-four years later the Pope constituted a court which in 1456 rehabilitated her.
Cardinal Bourne went to Rouen in 1931 to preside as Papal Legate at the commemorations of the 500th anniversary of the saint's death.
