Herald columnist ties knot
THE FORMER deputy editor of The Catholic Herald has become a married man.
Freddy Gray and Taffeta Bourke were proclaimed man and wife on Saturday. July 5 at St Mary's, Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
The wedding Mass was celebrated by Mgr Mark Langham, the former Administrator of Westminster Cathedral.
Freddy is now based in Washington DC. where he is literary editor of The American Conservative. He began a fortnightly column for the Herald. entitled American Diary, last month.
His best man, Francis Church. paid tribute to Freddy's journalistic skills and his ability to upset everyone from Polly Toynbee to the Archbishop of Canterbury" during his four years on the staff of the paper.
In his speech. Freddy thanked the Catholic Church. which he said "has always treated me well".
Taffeta studied zoology at Bristol and has a keen interest in primates. She and Freddy will spend their honeymoon in Uganda and Rwanda.
