Prayers for peace

PEGGY PALMER, honorary secretary of the International Union of Prayer, which centres around devotion to the Virgin of the Poor, more widely known as Our Lady of Banneux, tells me that their annual All Night Vigil takes place on Saturday 19 January and Sunday 20 January.
She writes, "Once again we invite all who are able, to come and share in a night of prayer for the poor, the suffering and peace between the nations in the eleventh annual all night vigil of the International Union of Prayer, Caritas Banneux.
In a world torn apart with wars and famine your prayers are urgently needed. The vigil takes place at All Saints Pastoral Centre London Colney commencing with a concelebrated Mass at 10 pm, chief celebrant Bishop James O'Brien who will also give the homily.
A north-west London coach is available. Full details with an SAE may be obtained from the organiser:Peggy Palmer, I, Prescelly Place, Edgware, Middlesex HA8 6DH.
Our Lady appeared in Banneux, in Belgium, in 1933, between January and March as "The Virgin of the Poor" calling us to prayer. On 18 May John Paul II returns to Banneux has Pope. We rejoice in this news and pray that his visit will aid the spreading of the message of the Virgin of the poor.
