PARTNERSHIP AND CLASS WAR

Sm.—" Partnership Will Banish Class War—Trade Unionists Hear Catholic Case." Report in Ilia CATHOLIC HERALD, May 16, 1947.
I have yet to discover the difference between the totalitarian ideas disseminated and enforced by Communism wherever it is, and wherever it rules, and those ideas that have been and are increasingly disseminated and made law by the present Government of this country. The principle is the same in both cases—Le., State control of the people from the cradle to the grave. Reading the above mentioned report it would appear that the nationalisation measures taken by the Government in this country are in accordance with the teaching of Rerum Novarum; but such an attempt to cover a totalitarian creed with the cloak of Leo XIII is a flagrant misrepresentation of his Charter, to which he would be the first to object, DOROTHY K.
