DEATH CAMP INMATES AT MASS

Hundreds of former inmates of the Buchenwald, Mauthausen and Dachau concentration
camps attended a Mass celebrated in the Invalides Church, Paris, on the fifth anniversary of their liberation by the American and British armies.
In a moving ceremony in the church which houses the tombs of Napoleon, Marshal Foch and General Le Clerc, many of the former .prisoners received Holy Communion. The sermon was preached by Fr. Riquet, S.J., himself a former inmate of Dachau. who recalled the day when they saw the white flag run up the flagpole of the camp indicating the end of their sufferings and how they embraced the liberators.
It was on this day, said Fr. Riquet, that Christians and Communists vowed, to remain brothers forever, a promise, alas, never kept.
