Cardinal honours Polish lady

A Polish woman has been honoured with an award from Cardinal Józef Glemp for her work with the Catholic Church over many years, writes Józef Lopuszynski.
Krystyna Mochlinska received the award at the Annual Conference of the Polish Institute for Catholic Action (IPAK).
Mgr Tadeusz Kukla, former rector of the Polish Catholic Mission in England and Wales, said: "It was an honour for me to present Mrs Mochlinska with the Medal on behalf of Cardinal Glemp for her wonderful service to the Church including over 19 years as the Prezes (chairman) of IPAK.
"She has worked not only for the Polish community, but also for the Universal Church in international organisations.
"The medal was actually handed over by the conference's guest speaker, Archbishop Stanislaw Nowak of Czestochowa, who congratulated her warmly and thanked her."
When Poland finally overthrew the Soviet Communist domination which it had to endure after the end of the Second World War it was through Mrs Mochlinska's efforts as chairman of IPAK that Polish television was persuaded to broadcast a Mass every Sunday at 12.00 not only within Poland, but also via satellite to the rest of the world to reach émigré Poles. As a result of her devoted work Mrs Mochlinska was privileged to meet Pope John Paul II personally on many occasions both at the Vatican and at Castelgandolfo.
Mrs Mochlinska worked with the Cardinal Glemp Foundation. The Foundation helps Polish priests to understand English traditions and culture.
