Among the contributors to this year’s Lenten resource in the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton is Pope Benedict XVI and Bishop Kieran Conry of Arundel and Brighton.

Each year the diocese produces a series of reflections for the use of groups and individuals based on the Lenten Scripture readings. This year’s Lenten booklet is called The Lord is my Light.

As well as Bishop Conry’s contribution there is also each week a quotation from Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclical letter Caritas in Veritate, which is about human development in the light of the current economic and ecological crisis.

The reflections are intended as a stimulus and help in people’s spiritual preparation for Easter. They offer a chance to reflect on the challenges and opportunities in living the Gospel in today’s world. David Wills, adult formation adviser, said: “We believe that this Lenten booklet provides an accessible and prayerful way for people to enter into Lent, prepare for Easter, and deepen their understanding of the Scripture for the Sundays of Lent and the social teaching of the Church.”
