VISITORS to Castelgandolfo last week from Britain, Ireland, Malta, France, and the U.S.A. were addressed by Pope John in Italian, French, and finally —for the first time at a general audiencein English.
The Pope stressed the importance of visiting Rome for Catholics and for those of other Christian religions. Referring to the latter, he said these Christians each return to their own country and family feeling that there has been a renewal in their hearts which is, according to the various cases, filial devotion, love, respect, reverence.
The Holy Father concluded by saying, "In this manner the great family of Christ lives, prospers, becomes closer; and we can contemplate the future with faith, even if there still may come clouds, storms and difficulties."
