The Foreign Office have nominated Sir Desmond Morton as deputy chairman of the United Nations Economic Survey Mission for the Middle East, which will, among other things, advise on the repatriation, resettlement and rehabilitation of refugees.
Sir Desmond left on Wednesday to meet the other members of the Economic Survey Mission They are to assemble at Beirut on September 11 and will start the it work from there.
