Romania's EU accession marked

THE ROMANIAN Embassy and the Three Faiths Forum have held a reception to mark the accession of Romania to the European Union and theforthcoming Third European Ecumenical Christian Assembly in Sibiu. Romania. writes Peter Jennings.

Archbishop Faustino Sain7 Munoz, the Papal Nuncio, was among the guests at the reception, which was hosted by Raduta Matache, Chargé d'Affaires at the embassy, and Sir Sigmund Sternberg, co-founder of the Three Faiths Forum. Also present were Princess Elena, daughter of King Michael I of the Romanians, and her husband, Alexander Nixon.

Mrs Matache read out a message from Traian Bisescu, President of Romania, in which he stressed that membership of the European Union "will give to Romania the opportunity to confirm its European vocation and to strengthen its determination in the pursuit of democracy and religious tolerance".
