Hundreds attend seventh Faith of our Fathers
MORE than 300 Catholics from all parts of the country came together for the Faith of our Fathers' Conference on Saturday. May 27.
The event was organised by the national committee of Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, and held at Central Hall, Westminster, in London. The audience was made up of Catholics of all ages and included several priests and seminarians.
This year the conference marked the 10th anniversary of the first Faith of our Fathers Conference in 1996.
Fr Anton Guziel was chaplain for the day and in the afternoon he also gave a talk on reverence for the Blessed Sacrament.
The other speakers were the internationally known apologist Raymond de Souza. who gave a fascinating talk on the sacrificial nature of the Mass; Daphne McLeod, chairman of
Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, who spoke on the importance of truth; and John Gunn, national co-ordinator of the Catholic Action Group, whose talk, "What is Truth and why defend it?", sent everyone home with a clear mission. There was also a Question Time, when written questions from the audience were answered by a panel of all four speakers.
Many people commented on the happy atmosphere at the event throughout the day. Many of those attending also described this seventh Faith of our Fathers event as "the best ever".
All the talks, and the Question Time, were recorded. Sets of audiocassettes, in an album case, will be on sale in the near future. An order form can be obtained from Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, 4 Fife Way, Great Bookham, Surrey KT23 3PH.
