JEWS AND CHRISTIANS Issue a Significant Document

It will be remembered that some little while ago a Declaration was issued in the United States concerning the Fundamentals of Peace. It started off with the assertion that " the moral law must govern world order " and this was followed by six further state, ments in conformity with that principle. The remarkable thing about the Declaration is that it was signed by 130 leaders of the Caiholic, Protestant and Jewish committees.
The Council of Christians and Jews, which represents in this country the same communities as the signatories of the American Declaration, has now issued the statement. In circulating it. the Council says: "The significance of the afocument lies in the fact that it is the first statement of its kind to he published in this country with Che approval of the heads of the Protestant, Roman Catholic and Jewish communities and on behalf of a representative hody of Christians end Jews."
It was recently announced by the Council (whose headquarters are at 21, Bloomsbury Street, London) that Archbishop Griffin had accepted an invitation to become one of its Joint Presidents in succession ti the late Cardinal Hinsley.
