Bishop to ordain five deacons for Diocese of Clifton

BISHOP DECLAN Lang of Clifton is expected to ordain five deacons in Clifton Cathedral, Bristol, this Saturday.

Four men will be ordained as permanent deacons. They are Ken Fowler from Chard, Somerset, John Torr from Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, and Stephen Godwin and John Detain both from Salisbury, Wiltshire. Mark Moran who is training to be a priest for the Clifton Diocese will also be ordained deacon at the Mass.

“The ordination will be a great day for these men but the real joy of the occasion for many parishioners will be when they are welcomed back with open arms and hearts by their home communities,” said Fr Bernard Massey, director of formation for Clifton Diocese.

Fr Massey added: “They are all very different people with different talents and skills but they are united by their love of service and their devotion to their families both in their homes and in their churches.”
