Bishop rests for three months BISHOP John Crowley of Middlesbrough

has announced he will be taking a three-month leave of absence away from his diocese. The decision was made after "a series of ailments" led doctors to advise him to rest.

Mgr Gerard Dasey will act for him during his absence. The 65-year-old bishop, who was appointed to the See of Middlesbrough in 1993, said in January that he planned to travel more widely around his diocese.
