If belief in the shroud helps individuals in the everyday practice of their Faith then fine. It does not matter a jot in that context whether the cloth was our Saviour's winding sheet, a medieval forgery or made last year for Marks and Spencer.
Surely it is better that it be an aide memoire to personal meditation and prayer than fodder for a media circus.
