Polish concordat

by our Rome correspondent VATICAN sources said this week that the Polish Government and the Holy See were preparing to draw up a concordat, or convention, similar to Italy's cohabitation pact with the Vatican.

One of the first tasks of the Vatican's newly appointed Nuncio to Poland is likely to bc a preliminary draft of the agreement's test.

The legislative groundvsork for a Church-State concordat in Poland was laid on May 17, sources added, when the Polish parliament approved a law governing its juridicial relations with the Church.

Such a concordat would he in addition to the bilateral convention on internal relations between Warsaw and the Holy See, drawn up by a joint governmental-ecclesiastical working party and still awaiting its final approval.
