The annual swimming gala of the Catholic Youth Confederation (organised by the Southwark Province of the Knights of St. Columba) took place at the Lambeth Baths on September 29, and was honoured by the presence of the Bishop of Southwark.
The gala itself was a veritable feast of sport. The Senior Cup (presented by the South London Circle of the Catenian Association), and the C.Y.C. Challenge Cup, after close struggles, were again taken by Wimbledon, last year's holders. A most exciting fight was made for the Junior Cup, which was eventually tied for by Brighton and Clapham Common. The cup awarded by the Norwood Circle of the Catenians was won by the S.W. London District.
Prizes and certificates were presented by Provincial Deputy J. C. Sherrott. A spirited polo match between the Penguins land the Otters resulted in a win for the Penguins by six goals to two.
