Munitipal 1 lections in Manchester

Catholic Successes

Three Catholic candidates were successful in Manchester in the recent municipal elections, all of them being .returned un opposed. They were Councillor J. E. Fitzsimons (Liberal) in St. Clement's Ward, Councillor E. Rafferty (Labour) in St. Michael's Ward, and Councillor Mrs. M. A. Gibbons (Liberal) in St. John's Ward.

Catholics nominated for the general election in Manchester and Salford number three, two in Manchester and one in Salford. They are Mr. E. L. Fleming, K.C. (Consurvative), who is contesting the Withington dieision in a three-cornered fight; Mr. A. C. Crossley, Conservative nominee for Stretford; and Alderman J. Toole, who is the Labour candidate for South Salford.
