MRS JUNE Hargreaves tells me that this year marks the Centenary of the Parish School and the Golden Jubilee of the Church of SS Peter and Paul, New Brighton, Wallasey, Merseyside.
The Church building stands at about the highest point in Wallasey. With its unusual design and white stone construction, surmounted by a green copper dome, it is the most prominent landmark on Merseyside. .The style of architecture is based on that of Lisbon Cathedral. The parish is celebrating with a number of events during the year, culminating with a Mass of Thanksgiving on June 19, which is the Feast day of SS Peter and Paul, and a Concert of Sacred Music which will be performed by the Birkenhead Choral Society directed by Mr David Holroyd on March 23 at 7.30 pm in the Church.
Admission £1. Adults, Child/OAP 50p. Obtainable from Mrs Hargreaves at 24 St Georges Park, New Brighton, Wallasey, Merseyside. Telephone 051-639-7252.
