Saturday: Opening of New Church of SI Francie, Leeds. Ilern Fr. David Ogilvie-Forbes was born in Fraserburgh on 22nd May 1904 and was educated at Ampleforth. He entered the monastic community at Ampleforth immediately after leaving school in 1923. As a young monk he spent six years at Oxford studying first History and later Theology being ordained priest in 1932 when he returned to the Abbey. For the next ten years he taught in the school at Ampleforth and also became Novicemaster at the early age of 31, a post which he filled for seven years. In 1942 Fr David was sent to St Benedict's in Warrington where he was to remain for the next 27 years, 17 of which he spent as Parish Priest. During these years he was particularly noted for his work with the Young Christian Workers movement and the Family Social Apostolate. In 1969 he moved to St Peter's, Liverpool for seven years before going to St Mary's, Bamber Bridge where he died on the evening of Saturday 23rd February
