Sect members are `false prophets', says cardinal

UGANDAN Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala has condemned the newly registered Catholic Apostolic National Church, describing it as a group of “false prophets”.

According to the Kampala New Vision newspaper, Cardinal Wamala also said he has not received any information indicating that the group’s top leaders were ever priests in the Catholic Church in Uganda. “I don’t know these so-called priests and the Church should not be scared,” the cardinal said.

The sect claims to be linked to the Catholic Church, and is based in Jinja, eastern Uganda.

But it allows divorce and can marry divorced persons. It also allows its priests to marry.
