`ABSENT' AT MASS Take an active part ' urges the Pope CATHOLICS' who remain "inert

and absent" when attending Mass were chided by Pope John in an address en Sunday to graduates from Catholic universities.

Although attending Mass. these Catholics do so in a mean manner, the Pope continued. "So many enter the church and remain inert and absent. without live participation in the prayers and sacraments." the Pope said. He urged the graduates to take an active part in the Mass.
