ANGLICANS PRAY FOR THE POPE

Dean of Chester Cathedral's Roman Catholic Friends"

Prayers on behalf of the Pope were offered up on Sunday last by the congregation in Chester Anglican Cathedral at the invitation of the Dean, the Very Rev. le S. M. Bennett.

Addressing the congregation the Dean said: " I.et us pray for all who are sick, and with our Roman Catholic friends, for the Pope, that he may be relieved of his pain and restored to better health."

Chester Cathedral until 1541 was a Benedictine Abbey, and it is believed that the Pope has not been prayed for by name in the Cathedral since 1558.
