WESTMINSTER REQUIEM P JOHN sent a cable voicing 1 his sorrow

at the death of Cardinal D'Alton and paid tribute to the Irish Primate's "vivid Christian charity" and "flame of missionary zeal".

Pope John spoke of his many meetings with Cardinal D'Alton during the preparatory phases of the Vatican Council. He saluted his "very great prudence and modesty".

A solemn requiem Mass for the late Cardinal D'Alton will be celebrated in Westminster Cathedral at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 15, in the presence of the Vicar Capitular, Bishop Craven. The Irish Ambassador, Mr. C. Cremin, will attend.
