Navy service

One of the Catholic chaplins travelling with the British Royal Navy task force to the Falklands, Fr Noel Mullin, conducted a service on board HMS Canberra this week, during which he quoted from Cardinal Hume's statement on the cirsis.

Leprosy guild

THE IVIEMBERS of St Francis' Leprosy Guild will celebrate Damien Day, Tuesday May with a concelebrated offering of Mass at six pm in Westminster Cathedral Conference Centre.

Brothers' tour

THE VICAR General of the De La Salle order, Brother John Johnson FSC, has begun a three week tour of the Brothers' communities in Great Britain. He is accompanied by two members of the Order's general council in Rome, Brother Benildo Feliciano and Brother Patrice Mares. They will meet some 200 De La Salle Brothers in 12 communities and visit their schools and other educational projects.

Workers' Mass

ARCHBISHOP Derek Worlock of Liverpool was the principal celebrant and preacher at a Mass for the Sanctification of Work on Monday's Nlay Day Holiday. [his Mass for Workers is an annual event in the calendar of the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Prior Provincial

FR ANTHONY Ross, 0.P., has recently been appointed Prior Provincial of the English Dominicans. The order has communities in England, Scotland and the Caribbean, and the four year appointment means that Fr Ross will be moving from Scotland to Haverstock Hill in London.

New chairman

Fr John Marbaix, SJ, is the new chairman of the Men's Mission Committee, succeeding Fr Edvvard Holmes.
