Cardinal is presented with the Compendium

CARDINAL COITFIRC MurphyO'Corinor has received The Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church on behalf of the Bishops of England and Wales during an anniversary requiem Mass for Pope John Paul II.
The Cardinal told the congrega
tion at Westminster Cathedral on April 3 that the book was not intended to replace the 1992 Catechism, but rather to re-awaken interest in it.
"I want every Catholic to have this catechism," he said, referring to the Compendium, which is pub fished by the Catholic Truth Society. The Cardinal said John Paul H's anniversary was an appropriate day to launch the Compendium because the late pope had reminded Catholics that it is not enough to believe; rather, they must understand why they believe.
