BOOKERY NOOK YOUR CHANCE TO FIND NEW AND NOT SO NEW RELIGIOUS BOOKS

THE season of mellow fruitfulness is just the time to sit down and order some fireside reading for the long evenings ahead. Apart from four popular titles carried over from July, all the books on offer this month are new to Bookery Nook. The choice is as varied as ever, from politics, to theology, to a quartet of novels. And another charming Lionel Fanthorpe for children, Birds and Animals of the Bible. The bargain of the month must be Praying the Rosary, a cassette and booklet that costs only £2. Congratulations to whoever thought of recording the timeless prayer. The addition of scriptural texts gives extra depth to a recitation sometimes in danger of becoming mechanical. The video we offer seems

expensive by comparison, but we feel that parishes, prayer groups, or Lourdes "Old Boys/Girls" associations might well like the opportunity of re-living their pilgrimage, or to introduce a forthcoming one. Two former Oxbridge chaplains have reprints of their books on offer this month. We Believe is actually 95 pence over our £10 limit a limit we may well have to revise in 1992. The Catholic Faith was equally popular when it first came out five years ago I remember giving at least six copies to young friends. Make your choice (and don't forget that Christmas is just around the corner) and fill in the order form; then settle back and anticipate a good read.
