Persecuted bishop dies

BISHOP JOSEPII Nguyen Quang Tuyen, who kept the faith alive in the Diocese of Bac Ninh, Vietnam, during the Communist persecutions, has died at the age of 61.

The prelate, who was ordained a priest in 1974, died in America from cancer.

His primary commitment. as bishop, according to AsiaNews, was to the education of young people and priests. At his funeral there were 1,400 catechists from Bar Ninh parishes.
