School Progress

The annual report of the Board of Education shows that during the school year under survey, 110 schools were closed; of these, 46 were council schools, 61 were Church of England schools, and three were Catholic schools.

As against these figures of closure, the following is to be set: During the year preliminary proposals were approved for 151 new council schools, three Church of England schools, and 24 new Catholic schools.

Thus it is seen that whereas the Church of England schools continue to decrease, Catholic schools steadily advance in number.
