CATHOLIC HERALD cowmr.usr and reviewer Brendan Walsh took up his new post as head of CAFOD's Communications Department this week with a pledge to make it "the best in the voluntary sector".
Mr Walsh, who joins the Catholic overseas aid agency after seven years as managing editor of Anglican publishing house SPCK, will head a 15strong department, supervising CAFOD's press relations and overseeing its publications and educational resource material.
Prior to 1987, he spent seven years as an editor with the Catholic Truth Society.
"CAFOD do something supremely important and they do it well," said Mr Walsh this week. "The people in the Communications Department have experience, talent and real determination. I am very much looking forward to working with them."
He replaces Ged Clapson, who left CAFOD at Easter after four years.
