Sur,-In terminating this correspondence which only began, it should be recalled. as a brief tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lewis, I am grateful to Mr. Rittner for confirming the accuracy of the obituary notice in Catholic Truth, quoted as my authority for the membership figure of 15.000-the result of Mr. Reed Lewis's work-but the notice most unfortunately omitted to make it clear, as Mr. Rittncr now has. that this figure was not reached during Mr. Reed Lewis's term of office.
Since the prime responsibility is always the writer's, I wish to add my apology to that already made by Countess Vanden Heuvel, who collected the original data for me, and hope that the above explanation will satisfy those whom I know have been distressed by the conflict of figures.
