INSIDE THE ENGLISH COLLEGE

Tl HS has been a tremendous year for the Venerable English College in Rome. In February they celebrated the day on which the college (then a hospice) Was founded 600 years ago. On the same day they welcomed Cardinal Heard as the first alumnus to become their Cardinal Protector.

The official celebrations, including a special audience with Pope John, took place on the Feast of Trinity. The hospice. as the college today, was dedicated to the Blessed Trinity and St. Thomas of Canterbury.

The current number of the Venerabile magazine —an immense work of 300 pages and 22 illustrations—is the book bargain of the year. The whole issue has been given over to the history of the Hospice, using new material and original documents.

Much interesting light is thrown on the life of English pilgrims of long ago. Professor G. Parks writes on the Reformation and the Hospice. A truly valuable work.
