Nobel Prize proposal by Pax Christi

THE international Pax Christi movement has proposed Archbishop Helder Camara of Olinda and Recife, Brazil, as a candidate for the 1970 Nobel Peace

Prize,

Cardinal Alfrin-k, Archbishop of Utrecht, the international president t of Pax Christi, has written to the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm: "For years Archbishop Camara has stood up for better world relations."

"He devotes himself to the cause of social justice. His example and endeavour is also important for the whole of Latin America as well as for • other continents.

"By his constant struggle against injustice on behalf of the suppressed and by carrying out his programme of renewal and training of young leaders he contributes in a real and exemplary way to co-operative development which is essential for securing a prospect of world peace."
