" In the modern world Christians and nonChristians alike have put their trust in the ' arm of the flesh,' they have believed the word of man rather than the Word of God. No human power can stop the progress to the abyss. Only a profound movement of change will bring the human spirit once more into vital relation with the Spirit of God.

Such an ideal was the dream of political reformers and revolutionaries of the last two centuries, but since they rejected the power of the Spirit their ideal proved unreal,
