STATUE FOR WINNING BATTALION

ASTATUE of St. Barbara,

patron saint of artillerymen, has replaced the traditional silver cup as the annual award to the most efficient battalion of the Peruvian Army.

Col, Clyde McBride, chief of the artillery section of the United States military mission now in Peru, suggested the shange,

The first award of the statue was made during a special ceremony in Lima.

Fr, William McCarthy, a vtaryknoll missionary, blessed the statue before it was presented to the winning battalion.
