OBITUARY

FR. GEORGE BAYLEY

Fr. George Bayley, a convert and parish priest of St. Mary Magdalene's, Gannow, Burnley, died suddenly in Stretford Memorial Hospital, Lancs., on Saturday. He was 59.

Educated at St. Cuthhert's College, Ushaw, and Oscott College, he was ordained at Salford Cathedral in September. 1925. He served at St. Ann's, Blackburn, St. Mary's, Levenshulme, Manchester, St. Edward's, Lees, Oldham, and at St. Joseph's, Nelson, until 1949, when he was appointed to St. Mary Magdalene's, Ciannow.

Fr. Bayley was also secretary of the Northern Deaneries Board and a member of the Broughton Charitable Soc1ety.
