THE BISHOP OF QUILON Stit,-The chief purpose of my visit

to this country which you recently reported, is to collect some funds for buildiog a Catholic University College and a Hospital, which are most urgently needed in my mission. Besides, for the college library books of all kinds are needed bearing on the subject of University courses as well as others on religious and secular subjects. I believe all schools, colleges, libraries and other institutions can chiefly help us in this matter and I earnestly request them to come to our help,

The institution is named "Fatima College " as it is Our Lady of Fatima who has obtained for us the required permission to establish it in answer to continued supplications of her children throughout the entire diocese after a struggle for two years.

The hospital will be chiefly for maternity cases. It is estimated that about fifty thousand mothers in childbirth and milliohs of babies die every year in India. The generous public, the devoted children of Our Lady of Fatima and all those with sympathy for the innumerable mothers and babies dying in India may send their gifts of money and books to " The Very Rev. S. Shaw, National Director of the Propagation of the Faith. 23 Eccleston Square, London, S.W.I." who will arrange to have them sent

to me in India. Books may prefer ably be sent direct to India. All gifts, however small, will be gratefully acknowledged by me.

IfIJEROME FERNANDEZ, Bishop of Quilon.

Bishop's House. Quilon, S. India.
