SWEEPING changes in strategy are to be implemented in a bid to cut costs and streamline Catholic media services, it was announced this week.
Continuing financial losses at the Catholic Radio and Television Centre at Hatch End, Middlesex, have prompted the Bishops' Conference to remodel the complex as a base for the production of audio-visual and printed materials. The Hatch End Trust and the Catholic Media Trust are to be merged under terms provided by a new Catholic Media Trust deed with a single body of trustees.
A limited company is to be formed to run Hatch End along commercial lines, with its own hoard of directors. Bishop Crispian Hollis of Portsmouth is to chair the Catholic Media Trust Executive Committee, and will have overall responsibility for Catholic media services.
• A resource pack aimed at promoting awareness of the "media apostolate" is being sent to parishes in England and Wales for Sunday's "Communications Day".
