SPECIAL APPEAL to lay
people to pray for the conversion of non-Catholics in England and Wales is made for this Sunday, Home Mission Sunday, by the Catholic Missionary Society.
The Society, whose members are constantly touring the country giving missions at which they make a speciality of inviting nonCatholics and encouraging Catholics to bring their non-Catholic friends and relatives. emphasises that conversions — in the vast majority of cases — are initiated by Catholic lay people getting into conversation with friends. people at work, families, etc. In other words. the lay person is the first and often vital contact that a nonCatholic has with the Church.
Churches which are able will this Sunday be having a collection to further the work of the Catholic Missionary Society whose summer plans this year do not include the usual seaside missions, but a series of missions without fees for small and poor parishes such as those in parts of Wales and Northumberland.
