A STRUGGLE between the Com
munists and their opponents in the all-important Sheffield district of the A.E.U. is now taking place as nominations for the keyoffice of full-time ecretary are being received.
The results will depend largely upon whether only one candidate Is nominated to fight the Communist. It is a favourite Communist tactic to split the opposition by getting.several nominations against their one.
The present secretary is Mr. Harold Ullyat. one of Sheffield's leading Communists. He has been nominated to stand again. Three years ago he had a 500 majority over Mr. Ted Law, the present president of the district committee whose courage in the face of tough opposition from the Communist majority on the committee has won him much admiration. Mr. Law is in the running for the post of national assistant secretary.
