REV S RAYMOND'S recent letter (November 14) feels that a remark by your reporter that the Holy Father in arranging the gathering in Asissi was "not accepting the erroneous principle. that any religion will do as long as you've got one" was unnecessary and unwarranted. 1 think that it was very necessary and very warranted since many people (including some Christians!) mistakenly believe that one can get to God even through pagan gods. This belief is contrary to what Jesus himself says: "I am the way, the Truth and the Life, no one goes to the Father except by me" (John 14:6).
He did not say that we could get to the Father by various pagan gods and their prophets. If this were the case then what would be the point of Christian missionaries? Surely their aim is to convert the unbelievers, to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Eastern religions are false religions. No one will get saved by Buddha, Vishna, Krishna or the likes. Their followers are in the Kingdom of Darkness. Only Jesus is the Saviour and the
