Pooling the Irish Sea

"WHO PAYS the I erryman'"? might well be the He of this photograph for these are the executives of Scalink British Ferries and the B + 1 line who have made a pool of the Irish Sea.

they have, between them, organised the ferry fares and times of arrival and departure of their ships for 1985. They will "pool" all revenues, with the exception of "on board spend".

The question of interchangeability of tickets is under discussion, and it is claimed, by F J Boland of B 1 and James Sherwood of Sealink British Ferries that, "This sensible rationalisation will provide our customers with the full and regular service they require, while at the same time reducing our costs and helping to ensure stable long term prosperity for our services on the Irish Sea."
