Any old spectacles

REGARDING the old French missionary priest who has been collecting old spectacles to send to the Third World, I asked the members of the Congregation of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Caterham for all their old spectacles, and within a few weeks, we collected several hundreds of pairs.

On the weekend of March 23 my husband and I went to Paris and took the spectacles with us. We visited the Assocation D'Aide Au Tiers-Monde en Opt ique Oculair, 153 Rue Ordener, 75018 Paris. Sadly the building has been converted into flats and the association is no longer there.

Generally, many Catholics in France have strong ties with the African countries, particularly the Congo and there are many French/Catholic missionaries doing wonderful work for their emerging nations. 1 would gladly receive any spectacles or you could send them with a Customs Declaration stating they are old spectacles of no commercial value to:

Les Soeurs De La Mission Catholique, Mindouli, R.P. Congo or; Pere Jubault Eugene, 11 Rue De Tretaigne, 75018 Paris, France. The address given in the Herald recently is Incorrect.
